- Further advances in agricultural machinery require - amongst others - means for fast and precise positioning. Hydraulic drives fit very well to the environmental conditions of this machinery and can provide the required performance. State of the art methods of fluid power control by servo or proportional valve technology are not adequate for cost and maintenance reasons. Switching techniques are an alternative. Various concepts of switching exist. Some of these also show good efficiency. To put these techniques to practice requires very fast switching valves which currently are not available. One promising concept to realize such valves is outlined.
